Child safe blinds are an important consideration. When choosing blinds, most people consider privacy, style and functionality. However, equally as important is whether your blinds are safe for kids.
Children are naturally curious about their surroundings, and they will investigate even the most mundane household items. Blinds included! Therefore, making products safer for homes with young children and pets is an integral part of the Luxaflex design philosophy.
Ideally, blinds that are safe for kids will have no cords. Unsecured cords can pose a strangulation hazard for children because they can become easily entangled.
There are plenty of blinds available which inherently have no cords. Products such as PolySatin Shutters, hand-drawn curtains and spring controlled roller blinds. There are also many products which can be manufactured with a wand rather than a cord, such as vertical drapes, LumiShades (also known as Veri Shades) and Duette Shades.
Motorised blinds are an excellent choice when looking for safe blinds, because motorisation means no cords. They run via a motor, and are usually controlled via a remote or a switch, making them a super convenient choice. Almost every type of blind can be motorised, although there are a few exceptions.
Luxaflex have pioneered a type of blind called a LiteRise blind. LiteRise is a manually controlled blind with no cords. They are hand operated. You simply grab the blind, and raise or lower it to where you want! There are plenty of products which are available as LiteRise, such as Duette Shades, Roller Blinds and Timber Venetians.
